Dear Readers,

It’s that time of the year again! Work is already beginning on compiling our best stories from the year into a beautiful, hard copy publication. Take a look at our 2014 edition, Red Threads, here.

We are pleased to announce that the following positions are open for applications. Regular meetings will be held at the ANU campus throughout August and September.

Subeditors will edit content that is sent to Monsoon and source original content for the blog and annual. The key skills for Subeditors are a clear understanding of spelling, grammar and structure. Subeditors will be expected to spend about 2-4 hours a week sourcing and editing content.

Designers will work closely with our Chief Designer in formatting the Monsoon Annual. Knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop is a must. Work will increase in intensity as we approach print deadlines in September.

If you are bilingual (or near fluent) in a language of Asia or the Pacific, this position is for you! The Monsoon Project requires students that are able to translate content that is submitted in non-English languages. Translation will occur on an ad-hoc basis when necessary.

Please let us know if you have any further questions about what the roles involve. If you are interested in any of these positions, please send us a note at with a brief description of what you can offer us, by COB 22nd July. We look forward to hearing from you!

The Monsoon Team.
